Costa Mesa Some people call it the "City of Arts," some call it the "City With a Heart," whatever you call it, Costa Mesa is a happening place.Full of theaters, shopping malls and art venues, there is always something to discover.Costa Mesa is home to The Orange County Performing Arts Center, where you can catch the likes of Bob Hope, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Johnny Cash, Jay Leno and Julio Iglesias. We also boast The South Coast Repertory Theater, which is Orange Countys Tony award winning theater, The Orange Coast College Moore Theater, the Costa Mesa Civic Playhouse the Trilogy Playhouse as well as a host of amazing outdoor sculpture by the legendary artist Isamu Noguchi, and other prominent artists like Joan Miro, Jean DeBuffet, and Henry Moore "City of the Arts" is pretty accurate, but so is city of great shopping and awesome events. Two of my favorite events in Costa Mesa are the Orange County Fair and the annual Chalk Art Festival where you can "paint the street."For great local shopping there is SouthCoastPlaza, which I would compare to Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, except better. It is one of the busiest and most successful shopping malls in the nation with 322 stores the likes of Banana Republic, Christian Dior, Giorgio Armani, Tiffany & Co. and Pottery Barn.
Other major centers include Triangle Square and youthfully hip shopping at The Lab Anti-Mall.And then theres TalbertNature Preserve, just one of 26 parks in the city with numerous trails across many acres. Its great to watch mountain bikers and BMX racers ride through the park almost everyday. It must be said, Costa Mesa is a fun place to live.
One of the greatest things about Costa Mesa is the quality of schools. Not only do children at local public schools consistently rank in the top 70-80th percentile, but the city also has great colleges, such as OrangeCoastCollege, VanguardUniversity, WhittierLawSchool, and NationalUniversity. The city also organizes a phenomenal summer camp for kids and teens.
Costa Mesa shares in the prosperity of every city of Orange County, as OrangeCounty is ranked among the top 30 economies of the world.Close to professional business centers in Irvine and Newport Beach and major transportation routes, you are never far from a great place to work.
I found that owning a home in Costa Mesa is an affordable way to have a great standard of living. With median priced homes beginning around $450,000, I have found it amazingly possible to discover the gems of Costa Mesa everyday at a reasonable price. We rub elbows with Newport Beach and Huntington Beach, so we are only a hop, skip and jump from the beautiful coast. We are near the mountains, the deserts and we have sunshine almost everyday. Costa Mesa makes it possible to live well.
