Buena Park

There are so many reasons to visit Orange County, and there are so many more reasons to stay.  Buena Park is part of beautiful Orange County, famed for prosperity, safety and great entertainment, and Buena Park is no exception.  Local folks and visitors alike are drawn to the county's 42 miles of golden sandy beaches, vast open space and public parks, as well as the quality communities and beautiful weather.  Buena Park was first put on the map by the railroad, and later became known for its world famous tourist attractions.  We began with avocado and orange groves dotting the landscape and have grown to a destination visited by almost 4 million people for our great entertainment.  You can call Anaheim and Buena Park, Southern California's theme park heaven.

Were a young city, and we are enjoying our playful youth.

Buena Park is home to the popular E-Zone or Entertainment Zone.  Youll find excitement in abundance with attractions like Knott's Berry Farm with thrilling roller coasters and games for family fun, and Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament where you can cheer on your favorite knight in shining armor as he jousts his way to victory in the year 1093.  At the Movieland Wax Museum you can stargaze at the 300 celebrities featured from 70 years of movie history or check out Pirate's Dinner Adventure recently opened in December 2006.  Noted as being the world's most unique interactive dinner show!  Dont miss Ripley's "Believe It or Not!" Museum for a most unusual and unbelievable experience, or Knott's Soak City U.S.A. for cool summer fun.  We love rubbing elbows with Anaheim, where after a quick 5 minute drive you can be at Disneyland, the Happiest Place on Earth, at a Mighty Ducks hockey game or dodging fly balls at an Anaheim Angels baseball game.  There are plenty of other acts to catch like Santana, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Ozomatli at the House of Blues, Barry Manilow, The Lakers and Heavyweight Boxing Bouts at the Arrowhead Pond, and dont forget The Beach Boys and Nancy Sinatra at The Grove of Anaheim.

For fun community events and entertainment Buena Park is a great place to be.  Come see what the brightest young artistic minds are up to at the Annual Student Art Show.  It is a citywide art competition featuring works from artists in kindergarten through sixth grades.  The Spring Eggstravaganza and Pancake Breakfast attract thousands of children who have candy and bunnies on the brain. There is a candy scramble and a visit from the bunny and his helpers.

Bring blankets and picnics for the Fireworks Spectacular as families pull up a spot on the grass as they are entertained by live music and a fireworks show. The Outdoor Summer Concert Series is one more reason to pack up a picnic and grab a spot on the grass for live music.  Then there is the St. Pius V. Catholic Parish Fiesta, which takes place over three days and includes rides, entertainment, games and food with a multicultural flair.  You wont want to miss Silverado Days, Buena Parks signature event celebrating the citys western heritage.  Thousands turn out not just for a carnival, music and food, but also for the weekend events like the "Baby Classic" baby pageant, the "Mutt Show," pie eating and hog calling contests and, of course, the crowning of Miss Silverado.  Its one of my favorites, a festival of good family fun.

There are so many ways to be a part of the community in Buena Park.  The Buena Parks Civic Theatre group is one of the few government-sponsored arts programs in the county and is open to adults.  We also have community gardens and a great recreation program that really focuses on kids. This is something parents in Buena Park really appreciate.  Kids enjoy great programs like Picassos In The Park where everything goes and kids can create huge art projects using crafts materials, paint, chalk, boxes, paper with the park itself becoming the canvas.  The WACK-O-LYMPICS is a very popular event that keeps kids so busy laughing that they can barely finish the races.  With pillow fighting, box carton roll, chicken fighting, cracker whistling and much more, your kids will have a great time during their vacation.  Pack a lunch, plenty of suntan lotion and let's play at the Beach Party Blowout, where kids and parents come to swim and build sand castles.  At The Great Splash you wont find a dry child left standing at the rip-roaring-wild-water-wars event with Slip'n'slides, water balloons, wet tug-o-wars, the works.  Expect to get very, very wet!  There is also the Buena Parks Youth Theater, which is open to all students in the fourth through 12th grades.  Children are taught the basics of dance, song and vocalization and the group stages two Broadway productions during the year.

There is no time like the present to get a great education.  The Buena Park School District is dedicated to providing all children with the educational, social, and technological skills needed to successfully experience and contribute to the world around them.  Parents and the community work together to help our children develop the abilities to work with others, make responsible decisions, and continue to learn and grow throughout their lives.  The schools strive to create a safe and orderly learning environment and work to nurture with acceptance and encouragement. The Buena Park School District has also formed partnerships with the Buena Park Senior Center, Buena Park Library, Buena Park Chamber of Commerce, and the Buena Park Police Department in an effort to engage the community and its citizens in educating our children.  This has been an incredibly positive way to bring the entire community together for the success of our children.

Wherever you live in Orange County, you are always close to a great career.    Business is healthy in Orange County, and Buena Park is no exception.  Orange County ranks 3rd nationally in median household income, ranks 14th nationally in retail sales and buying power, and we also enjoy an unemployment rate well below the national average.  In addition, tourism in Buena Park is a great asset to the community, and helps keep our city on the upswing. Tourists spend more than $200 million a year in Buena Park with more than 3.7 million people a year visiting the Knotts Berry Farm amusement park and other entertainment venues located throughout our city.  Its important to continually grow, this is why the City Council has recently embarked on an ambitious redevelopment plan to help revitalize our economic base with more retail and commercial businesses while also updating the city's entertainment and tourist corridor along Beach Boulevard.   Manufacturing is good business in Buena Park and we have some 100 facilities located right here in the city.  We are also home to top employers like Nutrilite Products, Leach International North America, Pepsi, Yamaha of America, Amada America Inc., NorthStar Moving Corporation and Snyder Langston.

In Buena Park you can find a great neighborhood and home that wont break the bank.  Its a pleasure to call Buena Park home.
