Laguna Hills

If youre looking for a great place to raise a family, look no further than Laguna Hills.  Laguna Hills is a close-knit, family-oriented community.  Our city was founded on the premise of superb quality of life.  The community vision was of local control to make life great for families by providing beautiful parks, improvements of streets and landscaping, great recreation programs, and a voice in decisions made.  Nestled among the gentle hills of southern Orange County, we are a small upscale residential community of about 25,000 people.  Homes on these rolling hills offer great views from ocean to mountains. We are a newer community but we have great character.  Laguna Hills isnt only an excellent place for families, but also a great place for horse lovers.  Laguna Hills has the spacious living areas for those that are interested in breeding and riding horses.  Nellie Gail Ranch is an upscale community that caters to folks that enjoy that country feel.  Though you dont have to be a horse lover or a cowboy to reside here, some folks just like the unique atmosphere here.  Laguna Hills is also home to some of Orange county's best medical facilities, great shopping destinations and many fine restaurants, all this in one of the safest cities in the county.

Great family-oriented communities always have great schools.  Laguna Hills is a part of Saddleback Unified School District.  The success our children enjoy and our positive local and national reputation are the result of focused teacher energy, vigorous parent involvement, as well as great business and community support.  The academic environment is enhanced by a variety of athletic opportunities, fine and performing arts programs and many other student activities.  Some schools offer unique curricular emphasis in science, language arts, gifted and advanced placement classes, or environmental education.  The use of technology as a tool to enhance learning for all students is a top priority.  The District's commitment to providing continuous teacher training and staff development is an important component in maintaining high standards in the classroom.  Saddleback Valley Unified School District's students graduate prepared to succeed in tomorrow's world.

In weather like ours, youll want to take in the sunshine.  The Laguna Hills Community Center and Sports Complex is a great resource for the local community to lead an active life.  The 18-acre park and 43,000 square foot community building offer excellent ways to enjoy a myriad of activities.  The site features two soccer fields, a softball field, a skate park, a roller hockey rink, a theme playground, picnic areas, an art room, a Technology Branch Library and much more.  In addition to the abundance of natural preserved land in Laguna Hills, we are only a stones throw from beautiful beaches in Laguna Beach and Dana Point as well as great hiking destinations like Laguna Coast Wilderness Park and Aliso And Wood Canyons Wilderness Park.  You can mountain bike or hike along the trails of the Aliso and Wood Canyons where you can get a pastoral feel unmatched in Orange County.  In Laguna Coast, lush, sycamore-shaded canyons and high ridges offer views of the Pacific Ocean and create a spectacular environment for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding.   In Laguna Hills nature can be your playground, and its all in your backyard.  And, if shopping is your favorite form of recreation check out the Laguna Hills mall where you will find family friendly shopping or the Mission Viejo malls for great upscale shopping.

Although the majority of our city has a distinctive residential feel, we are home to over 500 businesses with a strong commercial base anchored by the regional Laguna Hills Mall, the Oakbrook Village Shopping Center, and Saddleback Memorial Hospital.  We are also close to major business hubs in Mission Viejo and Aliso Viejo, cities that are home to companies such as the Fluor Corporation, Qlogic, Tamiya America, Remedy, Safeguard, United Parcel Service, Shea Properties, Myrient, Inc., Unisys Corp., and Prudential California Realty.   Business is flourishing in Orange County.  Orange County ranks 3rd nationally in median household income, 14th nationally in retail sales and buying power, and Orange County enjoys one of the lowest unemployment rates in the nation.  We are doing something right in Orange County, and Laguna Hills is a part of that magical combination.

Laguna Hills is great for community events.  Volunteer Connection Day is a countywide effort to encourage volunteerism. The city organizes several sites around town and residents/folks pitch in to clean, tidy, paint, have fun and pass on important lessons about being part of a community.  Free summer concerts offer a great way to meet your neighbors over fun musical performances with rock tunes from '50s and '60s, pop tunes from the '70s and '80s, bluegrass, rhythm and blues, even reggae and calypso.  Bad to the Bones is a 5K on the Fourth of July weekend.  It includes a noncompetitive 1K family walk/run.  The "bones" refer to the fossil-rich history of the area, and the race course passes through fossil-find sites around town.  The Fourth of July celebration is a community favorite with festivities that include rock climbing walls, games, musical entertainment and carnival rides.  Food booths raise money for nonprofits in town and everything else is free.  Fireworks are the highlight of the evening.

Laguna Hills is a great place to shop, dine, play or just relax, all in a family friendly environment.  You have to see Laguna Hills for yourself, there is no place like it.
