Seal Beach
A hundred years ago Seal Beach was known as the Coney Island of the West Coast.
Although we have grown up a bit since then we still know how to have fun. Seal Beach is now a quaint family town, and I was immediately attracted by the friendliness of the people who live here, the golden sunshine and fresh ocean air in abundance. Seal Beach is the getaway spot with the small town charm. Surfing, boogie boarding, swimming, kite flying, or sailing some of the best waters on the west coast. There is sand castle building, wind
surfing, bicycle riding with 30 miles of bike paths, and fishing right off the pier. You can take a charter boat out for deep-sea fishing, or hit Main Street for truly unique shopping and of course there is always sun bathing. Whats not to love about Seal Beach? With one of the most celebrated school systems in California, Seal Beach is also one of Californias safest cities making it one of the best places on the coast to raise a family. Seal Beach truly is Southern California's best kept secret.
One of the greatest pleasures of living in Seal Beach is the community, whose vibrant spirit can be felt in the many events held in Seal Beach throughout the year. Seal Beach practically invented the community event. We were voted best sand castle building beach in the United States and you can hone your skills with our renowned Sand Castle Festival, which benefits Save Our Beach, an organization dedicated to improving the water quality along the Southern California Coastline. The Annual Fish Fry is a great way to fill up on fun, food and friends. The Classic Car Show is awesome for car aficionados, and last year attracted 50,000 car lovers, as well as regular folks too. One of my favorite places is The Red Car Museum, a restored Pacific Railroad Red Car which was once used to transport people from as far as Pasadena to Seal Beach. Back then the fare was a quarter and delivered you to the steps of the Jewel City Cafe, a 1920s ballroom inn frequented by swingers and famous people of the era. Its a little reminder of local history. The Gum Grove Concert Series is new but something we wont let go of anytime soon. Grab a blanket and a picnic for this community event that doubles as a fundraiser for the local 13-acre urban forest. The Holiday Parade is a popular favorite; a small town parade like it used to be and which really brings the community together.
Seal Beach offers many other ways to enjoy the outdoors besides the ocean, though that certainly is a popular favorite. The city has seven tennis courts and l3 public parks. The Seal Beach National Wildlife Refuge is a great place to visit with over 1,000 acres. This wetlands area is one of the last undeveloped coastal areas in Southern California. If golfing is how you like to enjoy the outdoors, then you will definitely want to visit the Old Ranch Country Club is a private golf course and known for being comfortable and casual. Its an atmosphere in which members and their guests can relax and feel "at home". I find that the club consistently provides quality programs and amenities traditionally associated with private country club membership. The Old Ranch Tennis Club offers a private setting for those looking to work on their slices and serves. It was also one of the locations where the Quiksilver Junior Open Championships was battled out.
Education in Seal Beach is second to none. We are a part of the highly reputable Los Alamitos Unified School District, with numerous California Distinguished Schools and National Blue Ribbon awards to our credit. The schools are characterized by a culture of high student achievement and integrity. Students thrive in a caring, respectful, and encouraging environment where they are physically and emotionally safe to focus on learning. One of the benefits of living in a family oriented community like Seal Beach is that there is a tremendously successful partnership between the student, the family and community. The programs seek to unlock the potential of all the children.
When you arrive in Orange County, the search for a great place to work is over. Orange County boasts a flourishing economy and diverse career options. Seal Beach is home to The Boeing Company, the largest aerospace company in the world and the United States leading exporter. Seal Beach is also home top employers like Equity Office Properties Trust, Beverly Health Care, and Siemens Health Services. A stones throw down the coast in Huntington Beach there are great companies like Quicksilver INC, Simple Green, Cambro Manufacturing Co., Dynamic Cooking Systems, and C & D Aerospace, giving residents employment opportunities with high profile companies in a myriad of industries.
Seal Beach captures the vibrancy of Southern California living like no other place. Seal Beach's natural beauty and serenity make it a pleasure to explore everyday. You cant afford to miss this.
