Whoever said good things come in small packages knew what they were talking about. Villa Park, known as the "the hidden jewel," is the place for great family life, and though we are Orange County's smallest city, we are known as one of its friendliest and most welcoming places to live. With rolling hills and lush landscaping, Villa Park is a quiet and spacious retreat from surrounding cities. Jogging and bicycling trails and shady hillsides invite pastoral thoughts in this town of bygone vineyards and orange groves. Though this town of ours is only just 2.5 miles, you will find people with a wide range of backgrounds, interests, and occupations. We very much enjoy some of the most attractive neighborhoods in the county, four schools within walking distance and one of the lowest crime rates in the County. Most of the homes in the city are at least 2,000 square feet and we enjoy being among the highest average household incomes in Orange County. Tennis courts and equestrian trails are scattered throughout the city. Villa Park's central location and proximity to the highway system, the wealth of cultural, social, recreational, business and philanthropic activities that Orange County offers are all within easy access, making for the perfect mixture of relaxation, superb family living, and an amazing quality of life. Villa Park is a peaceful place close enough to all amenities and it is an amazing place to a raise a family.
We enjoy the pace of Villa Park, but we are glad to have big city amenities all close by. We love the great musical venues with world-class performers in Anaheim at the House of Blues, the Arrowhead Pond and The Grove at Anaheim. For the sports fan, Anaheim is also home to Mighty Ducks hockey team and the Angels baseball team. We are close to great cultural spots in Costa Mesa at places like the Orange County Performing Art Center and the Orange County Museum of Art. For a different kind of recreation there is fantastic shopping at South Coast Plaza and family fun at the Orange County Fair. And dont forget about the beautiful coast line, with miles of sun, sand and surf. You could say were in a pretty enviable position in Villa Park, the best of two worlds and a superb standard of living.
Spacious living is something were used to. The Wanda Road greenbelt is our local open space. Villa Park does offer youth sports run by Little League, Bobby Sox, National Junior Basketball, Junior United Soccer Association and other leagues. We enjoy the benefits of being next door neighbors with the city of Orange with 14 parks that offer space for walking, biking, roller-blading, swimming pools, playgrounds and basketball courts. Nature lovers can find plenty to do without traveling too far from Villa Park. The 477-acre Irvine Park is truly one of the most dynamic places in all of Orange. Nestled among a grove of heritage Oak and Sycamore trees and with the Santiago Creek running through the middle, youll definitely want to take advantage of the miles of hiking, mountain biking and equestrian trails. Irvine Park provides a serene setting for leisure activities and, the rolling foothills surrounding the park are filled with a variety of wildlife. The park also includes a nature center, a lagoon, mini-railroad, pedal boats, bike rentals, and picnic areas with
barbecues and ballfields, a volleyball court, and eight horseshoe pits. The park is also home to the Orange County Zoo is a great family place where you can see birds and animals native to the Southwest. There is also an assortment of nature centers, which provide walking and hiking trails where you can check out the local wildlife in Orange. Peters Canyon Regional Park offers an assortment of wildlife habitats while Santiago Oaks Regional Park and Nature Center has over 10 miles of trails into the hills between Orange and Anaheim Hills. In Anaheim Hills, Oak Canyon Nature Center is a 60-acre natural park nestled in the Anaheim Hills. The Nature Center is ideal for those who are just stepping into the wilderness for the first time or for those more experienced trekkers who are seeking a short hike. Its one of my favorite places with a stream that meanders through the park and four miles of hiking trails that traverse one of the few remaining areas of oak woodland and coastal sage scrub in our region. The center offers special programs geared for children and a birthday safari program.
A great education is so important to get children off on the right foot. In Villa Park parents and educators alike believe this whole-heartedly. The schools in Villa Park are phenomenal, and the community really supports the schools. With a curriculum and learning environment of excellence and high expectations each child has the opportunity to excel. I appreciate the schools celebration of learning, and the emphasis on development of the whole child. Their commitment to excellence combined with community support, provides a quality education for all our children. The standard is providing all students with the maximum opportunities in choosing their pathway in life.
We are a very family and community-oriented town in Villa Park, so we really love event that bring us all together. The Villa Park Family Picnic is a great way to meet up with neighbors, or make new friends. There are games, music and refreshments at the Irvine Regional Park, just outside of Orange. The Great Inland Yacht Parade and Christmas Tree Lighting is a big favorite. This fun filled event consists of a parade of Christmas decorated land yachts (anything from a small boat pulled by a car to a horse wagon!) followed by the annual tree lighting ceremony and it all happens at the Village Shopping Center. Perhaps the single-most important local landmark is the homemade fudge and the old-fashioned soda fountain at the Villa Park Pharmacy, the town's oldest business.
Everything for amazing living is here in Villa Park. There isnt a better place to make a home.
