Yorba Linda

Yorba Linda is commonly referred to as "The Land of Gracious Living" and I couldnt have said it better myself.  Began as a farming community, Yorba Linda has blossomed into one of Orange County's premiere residential hometowns.  Yorba Linda attracts residents with its many churches, well-manicured public spaces and outstanding recreational amenities.  We are in the entertainment center of north Orange County, near great places to play in Anaheim and Buena Park.  We are also a community with a love of plenty of wide-open space, horses, great golf and a sprinkling of local history.  Some of the city's historic roots have been preserved in Old Town Main Street, a favorite area of locals with great boutique and retail shopping.  Old Town also plays host for many community activities like the weekly Farmer's Market and annual events such as the Arts, Crafts, & Antiques Festival and Old Fashion Christmas in Old Town, which draws locals and visitors alike.  One of Yorba Lindas greatest draws is its beautiful homes.  There truly is something for every family shape and size in Yorba Linda, with homes ranging from $200,000 to over $1,000,000.  In Yorba Linda we know how to enjoy life and a home here makes gracious living easy.

One of the things we love most about Yorba Linda is the semi-rural feel we get from the beautifully landscaped streets and greenbelts and plenty of open space throughout the city.   Yorba Linda takes recreation seriously and with some 100 miles of biking and walking trails crisscrossing the city you wont have trouble finding a place to go.  Our love of horses and Yorba Lindas commitment to equestrian activities helps set Yorba Linda apart from other communities.  In addition to the 100 miles of maintained horse trails, the city has also built three state-of-the-art equestrian arenas.  The nearby Chino Hills State Park also gives us the unique chance to ride in unspoiled wilderness.  Yorba Linda is such a great place for diverse ways to play.  The Black Gold Golf Club is an Arthur Hills championship designed golf course and is Orange County's newest premiere golf facility.  Renowned architect Arthur Hills designed two top 10 rated best new golf courses in the United States and reports from local and national golf media indicates that he has continued that momentum with Black Gold.  You havent played golf until you have played on these rolling hills with the most incredible vistas overlooking Orange County and Long Beach.  On a clear day golfers can view the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island from several points along the course.  For more ways to play, Yorba Linda boasts 19 local parks with amenities like baseball fields, lighted tennis courts, beach volleyball courts, horseshoe pits and gymnasiums.  Orange County maintains two regional parks adjacent to Yorba Linda in Anaheim.  The Yorba Regional Park is framed by the rolling hills of rural Yorba Linda, set at the base of Anaheim Hills and adjacent to the varied wildlife of the Santa Ana River, making this pleasant park the perfect urban get-away.  The Featherly Regional Park offers a stately grove of mature Cottonwood and Sycamore trees with the Santa Ana River running through, creating the peaceful park setting.  Also close by is San Bernardino County's Prado Regional Park, adjacent to Yorba Linda in neighboring Chino, which offers fishing, horseback riding, camping, picnics and golf.

If another kind of entertainment is what you seek, youre in luck, because Yorba Linda is in the entertainment center of north Orange County, near great places to play in Anaheim and Buena Park.  Anaheim is home to Disneyland, the Mighty Ducks hockey team and the Anaheim Angels baseball team.  We are near to great musical acts and entertainment like Santana, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Ozomatli at the House of Blues, Barry Manilow, The Lakers, and Heavyweight Boxing Bouts at the Arrowhead Pond, and dont forget The Beach Boys and Nancy Sinatra at The Grove of Anaheim.  In Buena Park youll find excitement in abundance at attractions like Knott's Berry Farm with thrilling roller coasters and games for family fun, and Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament where you can cheer on your favorite knight in shining armor as he jousts his way to victory in the year 1093.  At the Movieland Wax Museum you can stargaze at the 300 celebrities featured from 70 years of movie history or check out Wild Bills Dinner Extravaganza to see how the West was won, and how the west was fun.  Dont miss Ripley's "Believe It or Not!" Museum for a most unusual and unbelievable experience, or Knott's Soak City U.S.A. for cool summer fun.  For great local arts, the Yorba Linda Spotlight Theater is a great place for young actors, with its summer theater for the children and teens of our community.  This non-profit organization was formed to give young people the opportunity to experience both off-stage and on-stage theater.  The Yorba Linda Civic Light Opera offers professional musical entertainment at a family oriented price.

Yorba Linda has its share of local and national history.  The jewel in Yorba Linda's crown is the Richard M. Nixon Presidential Library and Birthplace.  Visitors from all over the world come to see the place where America's 37th President was born.  The 9-acre library is home to museums, galleries and exhibitions focusing on the 37th president.  Flower gardens, including the largest rose garden in the country, surround the site.  We have seen notable guest speakers like Henry Kissinger, Buzz Aldrin and Jesse Ventura.  Another unique site in the community is the Susanna Bixby Bryant Ranch and Museum.  Winner of the 2001 Governor's Historic Preservation Award, the Susanna Bixby Bryant Ranch serves as the site for the Yorba Linda Heritage Museum where visitors can glimpse some of Yorba Linda's unique history.  This 1.3-acre ranch and gardens is a trip through the city's past, from Native American times to the first settlement by the Yorba family, and into the modern age.  The grounds are planted in California native plants, and a small replica of the original botanic garden is located on the east side, providing an idyllic place to spend a weekend afternoon with the family.

As a parent I am so pleased to have my children in the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District.   The community is rightfully proud of our schools in Yorba Linda and nearly every year Yorba Linda students place near the top of Orange County schools in standardized academic achievement tests.  In the district, eleven schools have been designated as California Distinguished Schools, two have been named National Blue Ribbon Schools and one was named a California Model School.  PYLUSD students have won honors in county, state, and national competition, including CIF championships, Academic Decathlon and Pentathlon tournaments, and mock trials.  Graduating classes earn over $2 million annually in academic and athletic scholarships.  The district averages 11 National Merit Scholarship winners each year.   PYLUSD is proud to have among its graduates Olympic Gold Medallists Janet Evans and Michele Granger, State Senator John Lewis, world-renowned opera soprano Deborah Voigt and baseball star Dan Petry.  The schools in Yorba Linda truly provide quality educational experiences that develop life-long learners who can function productively in and contribute responsibly to a diverse, technological and ever-changing society.

Events in Yorba Linda help to bring families and the community together.  Independence Day Fireworks bring fun to the community each year with food and games and fireworks lighting up the sky.  Bring out the blankets and a picnic basket for a series of free concerts in the park, where you can catch everything from community bands to concert pianist.  The Labor Day Family Fun Fest is a giant family picnic filled with games, chalk art activities and dancing to live music all taking place on the grounds of The Richard Nixon Library.  The Polish Harvest Festival celebrates Polish culture and features entertainment, cultural exhibits, ethnic food and traditional dancing.  There's reason to party when a one-mile stretch of Yorba Linda Boulevard is transformed into a fiesta.  The Fiesta Days Parade brings everyone together as youth athletic teams, bands and local politicians are among the many who walk or ride in the parade, which tries to bring a little small-town charm to this town of 60,000 residents.  Families can spend the day remembering the good old country days at the Arts, Crafts & Antique Festival.  The event features over 200 artisans selling their unique handmade crafts.  A favorite event for many is A Festival of Christmas Trees where every year the Nixon Library is adorned with a spectacular presentation of beautifully decorated holiday trees from nations around the world.  The trees and decorations reflect holiday traditions of each country.   The Nixon Library also host Musical Holiday Treats, the family holiday concert series with performances held every Sunday through the New Year with a little something for everyone.

On top of all this, Yorba Linda, like Orange County, has a healthy business environment.  Orange County has tremendous buying power, and Yorba Lindas average income is well above the county average.  We enjoy diverse fields for diverse professionals.  Living well doesnt get much easier, and Yorba Linda has it all at your fingertips.  Its never too late to get in on gracious living, youll only wish you did it sooner.
